1899 Established 1919 Purchased by J.P O’Brian & Co 1921 Acquired by Benmore Distilleries Ltd 1929 Taken over by Distiller Company Ltd (DCL) 1930 Scottish Malt Distillers Ltd. (SMD) take control 1930-36 Silent 1939 Stillhouse rebuilt after being destroyed by fire 1983 Closed 1988 Reopened as a visitor attraction (living museum) by Scotland's Historic Buildings and Monuments Directorate

Dallas Dhu Distillery Comments

Dallas Dhu means ‘Black Water Valley’ in Gaelic. The distillery is an industrial museum and perfectly maintained in working order and could easily start producing again in a matter of days. Whisky is still available although stocks are falling.
