Bairds Malt was formed in March 1999 as the result of a merger between two well established and already successful malting companies. The company operates five malting sites across the U.K., stretching from Inverness in the Scottish Highlands to Witham in Essex, South East England. The total annual production capacity is more than 245,000 tonnes which is used primarily in the brewing and distilling industries. Up to 25% of our annual malt production is exported to countries where U.K. malt is held in high regard, notably to Japan, South Africa and the United States.

Our Customer Service Teams aim, through close interaction with our customers, to agree objectives and develop initiatives in order to provide the best possible delivered malt quality and support service for Bairds Malt customers.

A Quality System is maintained by Bairds Malt Limited to ensure that the Company objectives, customer requirements and specifications are identified and achieved.

Certification was first achieved under BS 5750 in 1993, and has since been upgraded to meet the standard required by ISO 9002 (1994). Regular auditing is carried out by Lloyd's Quality Assurance Department to confirm compliance to the Standard. The Quality System applies to all areas of raw material purchasing, contract administration and production of malt at all five production sites.

Bairds Malt have a long tradition supplying Distilling Malt to the Scottish distilling industry and have many years of experience in meeting the needs of distillers today.
